"A Mike"
Mike Mihalakis was a student in Jack Sullivan鈥檚 accounting class at 51反差黑料 before he joined the Army National Guard. While deployed to Iraq, Mike e-mailed Mr. Sullivan letting him know he would return soon after the spring semester was set to start and asked him to 鈥渟ave a place for me鈥� in his class.
Within a month of sending that e-mail, Mihalakis died in a Humvee accident in Baghdad, Iraq on December 26, 2003.
To honor the memory of his former student, Sullivan donates to a fund in the Cuesta College Foundation to purchase parking permits for Cuesta veterans. Each free parking pass is known as 鈥淎 Mike鈥�.
How to Receive a Free Parking Pass
Veterans should attend a Veterans Orientation, held at the beginning of Fall and Spring semesters. Attendees receive a free parking permit, based on funding availability. Check your myCuesta student email for an invitation. Contact the Veterans Resource Center at either the SLO or NCC campus for more information.
